  7. Membership
Jon has details of new members but plan to do a group welcome rather than welcome separately.
Any ophthalmology consultant or SAS grade (retired/NHS/independent) can become member but applying through website. It was decided to abandon a proposer and seconder.

Members from nearby units outside region also very welcome eg Dorchester.

This year some local allied health professionals attended, perhaps as Bristol was hosting. Disadvantage of this is the costs for meeting will rise but are not supported by subscriptions. Also 140 people attended for venue for 120. It was decided that a practical way forward would be for AHPs not to be invited routinely but local units could encourage AHPs to attend as appropriate.

  8. Financial Report
    See report attached to follow

SWOS has a financial growth in the fund and with sponsorship has sufficient to support prizes.

    Subscriptions will stay at £16pa

Mr Greaney suggested that a cheque book is bought to AGM in future for issuing prize monies

  9. Prizes – discussed with Richard Lee and committee

It was felt unlikely that any of the material presented, which had not already been published or presented at an international meeting, would be selected for an oral presentation at ARVO. Hence the £1000 ARVO prize was not awarded

    Best Published Paper   £500
Miranda Buckle - Prevalence and incidence of blindness and other degrees of visual impairment in patients with neovascular age-related macular degeneration in a well-defined region of the United Kingdom
